Technique

Top-down, Seamless, Raglan, Worked flat, In the round (sleeves)

Construction

The Short Cardi is a seamless cardigan, knitted top-down in one piece. It begins at the neckline, and after completing the neckband, the stitches are divided by 4 raglan lines into the Fronts, Back, and Sleeves. The piece is then worked back and forth, with gradual increases along the raglan lines to shape the body and sleeves until the underarm is reached. At the underarm, the sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the body is knitted flat down to the hem. Finally, the sleeve stitches are picked up and worked in the round from the armhole down to the cuffs.

• To be worn with 13-18 cm (5”-7”) positive ease.
• Width – 50-51 (55-56, 60-61) cm / 19.75-20 (21.75-22, 23.5-24)”

Original Yarn:

• Alize Superlana Maxi (100g/100m, 25% wool, 75% acrylic) – 5.5 (6.5; 7.5) skeins.

Yarn Substitutions:

• Drops Alpaca Boucle (50g/140m) + Drops Alpaca Silk (25g/140m) – 4+4 (5+5, 6+6) skeins.
• Drops Melody (50g/140m) + Drops Kid Silk (25g/210m) – 4+2.6 (5+3; 6+3.6) skeins.
• Drops Melody (50g/140m) + Gazzal Marilyn & Merinos (50g/88m) – 4+5.5 (5+6.6; 6+7.5) skeins.

Required Tools

7 mm circular needle (60cm/ 24” length),
8 mm/ US 11 circular needle (60cm/ 24” length).

Gauge

11 stitches * 15 rows = 10 cm/ 4” in St st on 8 mm needles after blocking.
